Public Transportation
For those of you not living within walking distance there are numerous public transportation options.

The Pasadena Area Rapid Transit Systems (ARTS)
ARTS provides bus service locally. A pdf of the ARTS system map is available in the ARTS website.
The Los Angeles Metro Gold Line
The Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority has the Gold Line train to downtown Los Angeles, as well as an extensive bus system serving most of Los Angeles County. The metro web site can provide public transportation options for a beginning/end address if you already have housing locations you would like to explore. It also has a page with up-to-date information on all its rail lines and their stops. You can also download a pdf of the Metro Rail System Map.
Foothill Transit
The Foothill Transit serves the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys. Bus lines 187 and 690 link Pasadena to Pomona and Claremont via Arcadia, Azusa, Duarte, and Glendora
Supershuttle
When you need to get to Southern California airports SuperShuttle has four stops on campus and provides shuttle service to both the LAX international airport and the Burbank airport for a cost of $25 per person (it’s about $80 for the same trip in a taxi). There is no discount for additional person with you. If you order Suppershuttle for a round trip, each trip will cost $24(instead of $25)
