JPL Employee

A JPL employee collaborating with campus personnel on research or administrative projects that requires physical and/or electronic access to campus and/or campus systems may be processed as a JPL Affiliate. These assignments are unpaid assignments on Campus and require a Caltech sponsor. The individual must have an active status as JPL to hold a JPL Affiliate assignment on Campus.


Guidelines

  • The JPL employee must have an active status at JPL.
  • JPL Affiliates undergo a simplified process and requirements because they are Caltech employees.

Length of Assignment

Assignments are for the duration of the JPL Affiliate's need for access, for a maximum of two years, and are subject to renewal and continuous employment at JPL.


Process

  1. The sponsoring division/department will work with the JPL Affiliate to complete the JPL affiliate data sheet.
  2. Once completed, the sponsoring division/department will email the data sheet to hrinfo@caltech.edu.
  3. Human Resources will use the information to create a new Oracle record or update an existing one. After processing, Human Resources will email the division/department with the UID.

Before you submit a JPL data sheet, please confirm with the individual that they are an employee at JPL. If they are a JPL contingent worker, please follow the VAR process.
