Updates to the 67th Annual Staff Service & Impact Awards

May 30, 2022

To: The Caltech Community
From: Julia McCallin

In response to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases, the Institute has changed the format of the 67th Annual Staff Service & Impact Awards to reduce the size of our indoor audience.

The in-person awards ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, June 2 at 10 a.m. in Beckman Auditorium, now will be open to honorees only. All other community members and guests are invited to view the ceremony virtually via livestream. For friends and family members who have accompanied awardees for the ceremony and who have been invited to attend the luncheon that follows for honorees celebrating 20 years or more, a viewing area with limited seating will be staged at Beckman Institute.

President Thomas F. Rosenbaum is the ceremony's featured speaker and will present awards from the Beckman Auditorium stage to more than 200 staff members, recognizing the employees for their years of service and contributions to the Institute. Employees with service ranging from 10 to 45 years will be individually recognized. The Institute will also announce the awardees for the Thomas W. Schmitt prize and Team Impact Award.

Immediately following the ceremony at 11 a.m., there will be a community reception on Beckman Mall. All members of the community are welcome to attend the reception and celebrate our honorees while enjoying refreshments provided by the Athenaeum.

Honorees celebrating 20 years or more of service have also been invited to attend with their friends and family a post-ceremony luncheon at the Athenaeum. This luncheon, to be held outside on the west patio, will begin at 12 p.m. In accordance with the Institute's on-campus events and vaccination policies, all guests to the luncheon will be required to provide proof of full vaccination and booster, or a recent negative viral test result within 72 hours prior to the luncheon. Acceptable viral tests include a PCR test or a proctored antigen test.

If you have questions or seek more information about the events or our health and safety measures, please contact Human Resource's Programs & Engagement group by emailing [email protected].

I appreciate the community's flexibility in adjusting to these changes as we respond to the broader public health landscape. I look forward to celebrating the achievements of our staff.
